WINTER ACTIVITIES
The City of Cohasset offers many outdoor activities to the public in the winter months.
Some are organized group events, and others are things to do at your leisure.
Watch our Facebook: Parks & Rec page for updates on activities.
Come out and see why Minnesota winters are "snow" much fun!!
Ice Skating: The ice rink is located at Portage Park. The warming house is open and staffed on weekdays from 3:30-9:00 and on weekends or holidays 1:00-9:00. Skaters are welcome to use the rink on your own when the warming house is closed, but the ice may not be free of snow.
Snowshoeing: Guided snowshoe hikes, with snowshoes provided, are held weekly at Tioga Recreation Area. Hikes last 60-90 minutes and cover 1-2 miles typically. Snowshoes can also be checked out to residents for their own use at no charge. Email the Parks department for more information.
Cross Country Skiing: Ski trails are at Portage Park and Blackwater Environmental Area (also called MN Power). Blackwater has trail lights that are on every evening in the winter. Click this link for the latest trail reports: northernlightsnordic.org/trails
Full Moon Hikes: Hikes are held once a month October-March at the Clay Boswell Boat Landing (at the end of Blackwater Road). Hikes are led by the Parks Department and follow the Blackwater Environmental Area's Zeke's Return multi-purpose trail.
Fat Tire Biking: Groomed biking trails are accessible all winter at Tioga Recreation Area. Fat tire bikes can also be checked out to residents for their own use at no charge. Email the Parks department for more information.
Snowmobiling: There are limited trails through the City to connect with other trails around the county.
Ice Fishing: Cohasset has several lakes with excellent winter fishing. Your options are almost limitless with the ice fishing opportunities in the City!
